96 Inches

That equates to eight feet.  Wow.  The forecast for the next few weeks has few chances of accumulating snow, and I'd be happy for a break.   The Ice Park is jammed, both parking lots full and cars parked up the highway.  Restaurants are full.  Mike was just coming back from town a bit ago and said a car with California plates was parked smack dab in the middle of the road just gawking.  We get the gawking, we still do it, but maybe pull to one side or the other? Mike is feeling better every day, and the hot springs is proving very beneficial, both physically and mentally.  He is not used to sitting as much as he has to, and that gives him some social time.   Some pictures from this morning on our road: these top three photos are of the two huge trees that fell on the road in front of the Radles I loved the snow clinging to these trees

It's my fault

I mentioned on my personal blog that with my meds for a sinus infection and Greg's new cold, I was hoping we were coming to the end of illness in our house.  Hold my beer.  Last Thursday, Mike was hit from behind on a slope at Telluride.  A ride down on a ski patrol sled, a trip to the Telluride ER, and one CT scan later, he is dealing with two non-displaced fractured ribs and a probable concussion.  Can you imagine how fast that guy had to be going to upend Mike, a 6', 200-pound man?  I can't.  He is holding his own and will see his own NP on Wednesday for a follow-up. Being a small town, word has gotten out, I guess from the two guys he was with, that he is injured, and we are getting calls and texts to check on him.  It is appreciated. We're now at 91.5 inches after getting an additional three inches Friday night into Saturday.  Since I'm feeling better, I've been out taking photos of the neighboring houses.  They're getting buried! living in paradise The

I live in paradise, and 15 inches of snow, total of 88.5 for the season, really revs my motor. The Whites are getting buried

Snow!

We've had a foot of snow since Monday afternoon, and all of Colorado is being hit with this latest storm.  We are doing a happy dance as this helps our severe drought situation so much.  Between Sam from the VRBO and David and his new snowblower, the road has been kept cleared, and we've been able to get out.  Grateful.  Truly, it is so beautiful up here that I really don't want to go anywhere except out and about in the neighborhood. my aspen forest My unofficial tally is we are currently at 86 inches - over 7 feet! - for the season, and we did not hit this mark until February 24 last year when we had that three day, two feet of snow event.   Unfortunately, as I've mentioned before,  our November snow continues to wreak havoc in the form of lots and lots of avalanches.  As I write this, Red Mountain Pass is closed due to avalanche concerns.  It was closed last week for three days due an avalanche five miles south of Ouray.   The snow on the road was 10-12 feet.  I'

I have another cold

And anyone who's been around me, namely Mike and Greg, will tell you I have been beyond grumpy.  Two colds a month apart would make anyone unhappy. Since I last wrote, we've had an additional two feet of snow, the lastest four arriving during the night last night.  More is expected tonight. Between Brett's snowblower coming up if there's more than five inches and David clearing the road today, we have had clear sailing.   It's such a relief after the first part of the season, and we are grateful.  Total as of today is 73.5 inches. The Whites were here over Christmas, and it is such a joy to see the kids out and about.  One morning, about 6:15, we were woken out of a dead sleep by a coyote barking and then a shrill scream.  I don't think I need to go into detail about what that signaled.  Amber told me that they were terrified that Robby's sister had gone outside with her two little dogs (who have pee issues) so they were racing around the house trying to fi
