It's official/unofffical!

We're now at 10 feet of snow for the season, 120.5 inches as of late this morning.  We had wind with this latest storm so Red Mountain Pass is closed south due to visibility issues.  Thanks to David and Brett, MFL has remained driveable.  I'm running out of places to put snow!

Snow and ice

Since I last wrote, we've received another seven inches of snow, putting us at 105 inches.  We didn't reach this total until the end of March last year.  It bodes well for water supply.   Making a new snowshow trail and below I received an email this morning from Ouray Ice Park asking for donations so they can receive a $25k matching grant.  While I was making a donation, I found a couple of videos that just blew me away.   The link is https://ourayicepark.com/the-ouray-ice-park, and you'll need to scroll down to get to the videos.  One was done by PBS about ice farming, and the other is simply amazing drone footage of the gorge before ice and after ice.

Calm before another storm

We've had consecutive days above freezing, which has allowed us to catch up on snow removal since Mike's injury.  There's a storm headed our way Sunday night into Monday, possibility of some accumulating snow, but so far it's not a big one. Mike is improving, but he's only two weeks into a 4-6 week recovery period.  We've been monitoring the three aerators in the upper pond, and although the middle one has completely frozen over, the one closest to the dam and the other closest to Marchelle and Aaron's house are still open.  These consecutive days of above freezing have helped. Mike and I finally got up Veenstra's Trail to do some snowshoeing, but we've only made it to just below bear meadow.  With SAD, two colds, sinus infection and bronchitis, and some broken ribs, we've had a not so pleasant late fall into early winter.  For sure, my stamina has been affected, but I have hopes for getting up to the overlook before winter's end.
