Back from the East Coast
Mike and I have been in Bucks County, PA for a high school graduation, and while it was great to be with family, humidity is not my friend. Even though I was born and raised in Kansas, I don't do well with heat and humidity. Ouray is perfect for me.
I'm repeating the link here for Ouray County fire restrictions:

We are getting ready to put more bacteria and blue dye in the pond in a continuing effort to keep pond algae under control. Additionally, I stopped at Murdoch's early this morning and bought the smallest bag of fish food they had - 50 pounds. Marchelle advises that she and Aaron just throw it in the pond by the handful periodically, and if anyone would like to share in this task, please stop by and get some fish food. Marchelle also advises that it needs to be kept in an airtight container locked in a garage as bears find it enticing.
On June 21, the Wright Opera House is hosting "Geology of Ouray as Viewed by Drone Photography," with Steve Cumella and Mike Boruta. It's at 7:30 p.m. and costs $5.
A brief note about wildfires, in 2012 and 2013, Colorado Springs had back-to-back urban wildfires. We lived a mile and a half from downtown, and I could see flames from my house. There were cinders in my yard. I learned more about wildfires then than I ever wanted to know. In each of these fires, in less than an hour, 300+ homes were lost and two people died. I was of the opinion before that time that it couldn't happen there. It did. Last month, 15 miles southwest of Montrose, a BLM prescribed burn got out of hand, and a house and outbuildings were destroyed. I'm sure they thought it wouldn't happen there.
Our wonderful friend and neighbor, Steve Lankenau, has given us keys to his two gates, which give us an additional way out of the neighborhood if Camp Bird Road and/or our lower road is blocked with fire. I'm going to try to figure out a place to put them where they are accessible to everyone in an emergency.
I don't live scared up here, but I do live aware. End of lecture!

Rainee loves her ice cream. Note the pigtails! She is so proud of them but wants them to be called ponytails. |
