Winter Storm Watch!

 I've been waiting and waiting for snow, and our first possibility is coming.  We are under a winter storm watch from Friday noon until Sunday noon.  I saw an outlier forecast for 21 inches on Sneffels.  There haven't been any accumulation numbers posted, except that and possibly 17 in Silverton.  I looked back the last couple of years, and our first measurable snowfalls:  October 12, 2021; October 24, 2022; October 28, 2023.

I hope most of you got up to MFL and environs to see the fall foliage.  It has been a spectacular year.

Please keep Sandy and Larry in your thoughts as they deal with back-to-back hurricane damage at their St. Pete Beach home.   Just as they were getting ready to lay new flooring after Helene, Milton came in and caused more damage.  I'll update as I know more.

With any luck, Marchelle and Aaron's septic system will be up and operational.  A local contractor, Bumper, is on the job, and his reputation is very good.  What a nightmare this has been for them.

 At just 94.5 inches, we are falling farther and farther behind.  The Gunnison water drainage, where we sit on the very most southern edge, is only at 96%.  No one expected last year's near recordbreaking totals.  It's March 2nd, and temps have been in the 50s. Our fisrst mud season has started. Rain - yes, rain! - is in the forecast for today, maybe some snow tomorrow.  Predictions are usually wrong, but they've been unusually wrong this year.   That said, I'm still able to get up snowshoeing, and it's still beautiful.  With the warmer temperatures, Mirabella and Dempsey have started going with me.  That blue sky!

Sunny days

 We either get a lot of snow or a lot of sun.  We're currently at 85 inches, 30 more than two years ago, 20 less than last year.   All this means we've had lots of sun, mood brighteners if you will.  I've been taking advantage of the trail we've made up Veenstra's trail and snowshoeing about every other day.  Alex and Dustin were out yesterday skiing.  There's really no way to describe the serenity of those woods, but you've all experienced it.   I just know this is an animal's bedroom Coming into Ridgway last week

It's official/unofffical!

 We're now at 10 feet of snow for the season, 120.5 inches as of late this morning.  We had wind with this latest storm so Red Mountain Pass is closed south due to visibility issues.  Thanks to David and Brett, MFL has remained driveable.  I'm running out of places to put snow!
