This and that

Vincent from JC Propane came out on Monday, did a safety check in the house, and filled up our tank.  We hope to be good into the summer.  When Mike and I were out wandering the neighborhood just now, I remarked that if we had only had to deal with Amerigas field people, we would still be customers.  No call from corporate.

Also on Monday, we snowshoed up Veenstra's trail to Bear Meadow, named by me because of the mama bear and cub I saw there last May.  It was slow going as we were making a path, and the snow was pretty deep.  We're also still recovering from these nasty colds.  I wish I had the words to describe how beautiful it is up there, so still, so pristine, such sparkly snow in the sunshine.  You'll just have to come see yourself.  Mike and five of the Trail Group guys snowshoed yesterday all the way to the bench on the Overlook.  Mike and I will go out tomorrow and make a path to the mine and around the back way to our house.  The dogs are in heaven.

Before

After

Just as an FYI, we are renovating a bathroom in the house, and the work will be in February we hope.  All the necessary supplies have been ordered, and it's just a matter of getting everything in and the subs assesmbled.  For those of you who haven't seen "the pod," which is what I've come to call the insert, here's a picture.

Jake the Builder is pretty certain it had to have been original to the house because there'd be no way to get it in there now.  It is useless for Mike because the shower head hits him about chest high.  The house we sold in Colorado Springs had three showers and not one shower curtain.  He has a thing about shower curtains, and our new build has, you guessed it, shower doors.  We will make sure the subs leave the road clear except for a short period when they're delivering supplies.

New-ish finds:

Kate's Place in Ridgway.  It's only open for breakfast and lunch but worth a trip.

Eatery 66:  cream of mushroom soup.  I wanted to drink it.   I don't think I've ever had anything there that wasn't out of this world.  It's an ecletcic menu so if you're looking for burger and fries, this isn't your place.

Gnar Tacos in Ridgway:  Greg's former girlfriend used to say, "Sometimes you want Mexican, and sometimes you want Taco Bell."  If you're looking for Taco Bell, this isn't for you.  If you're looking for unusual but very good tacos with a twist, come here.

The Phillips 66 guys just delivered our repaired snowblower.  When Mike asked how much we owed, they told him just to stop by and pay at the station when he gets to it.  Small town America.
